gardens take time

this I am learning.

but there have been recent developments in the yard.  I put in another small bed along the fence in the front yard and then Jer and I decided we would claim the hill just outside of the fence.  It was just covered in grass and clover and the encroaching bamboo.  I have been learning quite a bit about gardening on steep hillsides.

Here is the 2nd small garden bed that’s in the front yard.  There is also an iceplant in between those smaller plants.  But I’m thinking of moving it and putting something else in there instead.

Today I made the first little garden plot in our new yard.. I planted a coneflower, phlox, and coreopsis.  I dug up as much of the grass as I could without totally destorying the soil layers that actually existed and then put down mushroom compost and mulch.
